Get F'IT: Financial Regulation and the Future of Funding

What is the future of funding? That’s the question we’re looking to shed light upon in our monthly fintech session. An increase in equity crowdfunding, advancement in blockchain technology, and a digital gold rush has been enablers for funding of many startups in recent years.

2017 can be categorized as ‘the year of blockchain’ and we have seen a rise in various funding solutions utilizing blockchain. Last year, we saw a severe increase in the total amount of funds raised via ICOs, which has reached almost US$4 billion to date – and recently, Vitalik Buterin (ethereum founder) suggested upgrading the ICO concept by merging it with some of the benefits of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). The new idea, entitled DAICO. Another interesting blockchain-based funding solution comes from Estonian based Funderbeam, who builds a blockchain-based “stock exchange” for startups.
At this session we will assess the current startup funding landscape and try to look into what the future might bring.
